Details on La Chouette

I asked the owners Richard and Jan Rogers for some details of their B&B and this is what they said.

Richard (a retired professional chef) and his wife Jan warmly welcome you to La Chouette, their B&B in the countryside in the heart of the Limousin, central France.

The Limousin is a beautiful area, with its lakes, rivers, streams and wooded landscape. There's a new view around every corner and its undulating roads are popular with motorists and bikers alike, especially as they are well maintained. There are many picturesque villages and towns to explore, and it's a wonderful area for lovers of the great outdoors.

La Chouette boasts five comfortable en-suite bedrooms, accommodating fifteen people in total, four of them on the ground floor, and three with a view out over the south-facing gardens of almost two acres. Guests are welcome to enjoy the peace and quiet in the garden, watch the birds and butterflies and may even feel the temptation to wet a line in the pond.

Once you arrive, you can park (off road parking) knowing that you do not need to leave the property again as delicious evening meals are served at La Chouette.

In the summer join other guests and Jan & Richard on the terrace for aperitifs, followed by a sumptuous four course meal (see website for details) around the communal table with your fellow guests and your hosts.

Breakfast the following morning will set you up for the day and includes home-made bread and jams, fruit and fresh eggs from Jan & Richard's chickens.

La Chouette is less than 10 minutes drive from Eymoutiers, its nearest town, 20 minutes drive from Lac de Vassivière, one of the largest man-made lakes in France and only half an hour away from the historic city of Limoges and the A20 motorway.

At 388 miles from Le Havre, and 444 from Calais, the journey is easily do-able in a day, using the good French motorway system. As an added bonus, the A20 motorway, which passes through the Limousin, is toll free from Vierzon to Limoges, where you would leave it to follow the D979 to arrive at La Chouette.

If you prefer not to drive all the way, regular Ryanair and Flybe flights arrive at Limoges airport (45 minutes from La Chouette) from various UK airports and there is a range of car-hire firms at the airport.

Finally

I work very hard on this website!

Can you do me a quick favour in return for providing this free information? I'd really be grateful if you told Twitter, Facebook or Google + that you appreciate my efforts!
