As they offer culinary tours and a great place for cooking or cycling holidays we asked the owners, Lisa and Steve Cavanagh, to tell us a little about Le Bouleau Chambre d'hote and this is what they told us.
We moved to France 7 years ago from South Africa and have been restoring an old 'corpe de ferme' that had be uninhabited for years - we're now certified organic veggie and saffron farmers and have renovated a beautiful stone barn into a B&B Le Bouleau, named after the silver birch trees that are found in abundance in the surrounding forests.
The area we live in, Aveyron, is the hidden gem of France - even the French are just discovering it! It has the most number of 'plus beaux villages', it's gently rolling hills and quiet roads lend themselves to exploring either by car or bike. For the adventurous there is kayaking, cycling, walking, hiking, fishing, horse riding, brocante hunting, the beautiful villages and castles, amazing fresh produce markets and then we are lucky to have some of the best restaurants and talented chefs so eating out is a real treat! Alternatively you could just read under the large oak tree and eat the strawberries you've just picked from the garden.
Le Bouleau offers 5 luxury ensuite double rooms all with pastoral views as well as large communal areas with all day tea and coffee station, TV, free WIFI throughout and ample off road safe parking. Evening meals or picnic baskets, with local produce, are available on request.
Located in a rural hamlet Les Hemps between Goutrens and Rignac on the D43. 28Km from Rodez, with its famous gothic cathedral and Museé Soulage, 18km from the World heritage village of Conques, 12km from Belcastle. We're 7 ½ hours from Le Havre and 8 ½ hours from Calais.
We look forward to sharing our little corner of France with you.
